AfroMestizo inspired by "Bill Caballero’s Jam Sessions" grew out of a vision to promote culture, diversity and music. The mix is expressed through traditional rhythms such as Cumbia, Cha Cha, Salsa, Latin Rock and a recent addiction of an accordion in some Vallenato to the flow.

Agua DulceAgua Dulce

One of San Diego’s all time favorite bands are back this year with the release of a new album "BLAH." This new album lives up to its previous journey through Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Brazil and takes beyond to harmonious state of Latin rhythms. Bobby MatosBobby Matos and Rogelio Mitchell Acoustic Duo

In addition to an already musically intense night of Latin big band and Latin Jazz, Bobby Matos joins the party! Bobby, one of the leading lights on today’s Latin Jazz scene, will perform playing congas and timbales along side with Rogelio on guitar the soulful part of Afro-Cuban rhythms.

Desmond Williams

Desmond Williams has tantalized both club-goers and record buyers with his highly intricate style. He has received critical acclaim for his work with Thievery Corporation. Inspired by the lush landscapes of Akira Kurosawa films, rhythmic poetry of Langston Hughes, and The Clash’s forays into reggae, Williams seamlessly flows through the lands of bossa nova, afrobeat, and trip-hop. DJ Damon Bell

With an ever-changing assault of dance floor styles, this local DJ is recognized for his ability to blend Brazilian, batacuda, afrobeat, with the futuristic sounds of nu jazz, broken beat, soul and deep house.

DJ Sean Perry

This DJ is one of San Diego’s hidden jewels with the ability of mixing Brazilian to Techno/House. Has remixed a wide spectrum of artists from Bobby Matos to Ozomatli to No Doubt. Will surely keep you moving all night from here to there.

DJ Sesqui

Residing in San Diego since ’99, this avid collector of rare salsa, jazz, funk and soul records has created himself a tight nitch within local clubs like Bar Dynamite, Ventanas, and Onyx Room. Sesqui, seems to give you a bit more than the ordinary DJ.

DJ SK

Brings together salsa rarities and vintage records from all over Latin America to San Diego. This DJ has become a underground favorite for his precious collection of roots of salsa, merengue, boleros, and vallenato.

Emilio Camacho y Los Rumberos

Fronted by Emilio Camacho, traditionally trained Cuban congero, introduces his new band. Performing many of his original compositions that echo the African roots and Son of Cuba. Obakoso guarantees to have all "huarachiando" with its first song

Gilbert Castellanos Quartet

Gilbert CastellanosBorn in Guadalajara and given his first trumpet from his father, Gil Castellanos, at a young age. Gilbert has been taught at the best institutions, has played trumpet alongside the best in jazz and has established the best Tuesday night jazz jam in San Diego. It is hard not to include this talented trumpet player performing Latin jazz into the Closing Night festivities.

Jack "Mr. Bongo" Costanzo Band featuring Marilu

Jack CostanzoMost jazz aficionados know Jack Costanzo as the groundbreaking bongo player for the legendary Stan Kenton Band. Costanzo, a San Diego resident and publicly known as "Mr. Bongo," is a living legend and credited with introducing the bongos to American jazz in the 50’s. Don’t miss this rare performance of one of the world’s greatest percussionists accompanied with his 11-piece salsa band and featuring Panamanian vocalist Marilu. Orquesta Binacional de Mambo

Orquesta Binacional de MamboBack by popular demand to close the San Diego Latino Film Festival, this irrepressible 20-piece band is dedicated to performing and promoting Latin big band music from the 1950’s to the present. Pa’Lante

One of San Diego’s newest Salsa/Latin Jazz bands pulls from the 70’s New York style of Salsa/Son. Performing at Ventana’s for the monthly event Our Latin Thing on Fridays. This six-piece band led by Steve Haney candies the listeners ear and makes all step out into the dance floor.

Plankton Man

Plankton ManEnsenada, B.C. native, Ignacio Chavez, is one of the founding members of the NORTEC COLLECTIVE and now stepping out on his own. Plankton Man was the first to introduce jazz guitar onto the Nortenyo break beat. QuetzalQuetzal

Super Sonic Samba School

Super Sonic Samba SchoolFounded 1990 in San Diego, the band has become a fixture in Southern California & Northern Baja California area. These talented percussionists combine performance, social change, and celebration. Very Be CarefulThis vallenato quintet has been scouring the Los Angeles and New York underground, now they come to conquer San Diego with their Colombian dance freakout.
