** "...A compelling road movie that's worth the drive to see." -
FilmThreat.com

** Starring Aitana Sánchez-Gijón (Mi dulce, Hombres felices), Tiaré Scanda (De ida y vuelta, Callejon de los Milagros), Jesús Ochoa (Zapata, El Segundo aire, Asesino en Serio) and Juan Manuel Bernal Cárdenas (La Habitación Azul, Hasta Morir, Callejon de los Milagros, Cilantro y Perejil).

Aurelia is a single mother who ditches her factory job and drug-dealing boyfriend, and Ana is a smooth-talking smuggler of fake Mayan artifacts fleeing a corrupt cop. When they cross paths at a truck stop in the dusty Mexican bordertown of Ciudad Juarez, the two decide to travel together to the Yucatan in search of freedom and friendship. Winner of the Latin American Cinema Award at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, this is a smartly-written and visually-sumptuous road movie about two women on the run. Written and directed by María Novaro (Danzón, The Garden of Eden). A hit at the 2002 San Diego Latino Film Festival! For mature audiences.

Maria Novaro.
Filmmaker Maria Novaro has created an impressive body of work that is outstanding for its often political portrayals of women living within two realities -- those of their daily lives, and those of their internal lives, which contain their secret hopes and dreams. Novaro graduated from the University Center for Cinematographic Studies in Mexico City. Maria Novaro belongs to the generation of female filmmakers who managed to make their mark in Mexico in the 80's. Starting with short films, she has focused on the self-assertion of women in Mexican society and has taken women's liberation as her main theme.
