EL GAVILÁN DE LA SIERRAGabriel Nevarez, Roque Aguilar and “El Meño” are riddled with bullets by a group of men in the Durango mountains. Rosendo Nevarez, who earns his living as a traveling musician, learns of his brother’s death and decides to return to El Salto, where his father, Don Joaquin, and Soledad, Gabriel’s widow, live. Once there, Rosendo begins discovering aspects of Gabriel’s life that he didn’t know about. He encounters several versions in which Gabriel appears as a common criminal or idealized with the mythical aura of a generous bandit. Gradually, Gabriel Nevarez’s story unfolds: he is the rebellious son, the determined man or the delinquent pursued by the law, the lone man of the mountains.
