LATINO! CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS Art Exhibition at Twelfth Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival March 10-20, 2005
Art
manifests itself in the film industry in many forms from set design
to computer animation. Media Arts Center San Diego recognizes the
undeniable importance of art in film and the constant influence of
technology on the visual arts. ¡ARTE LATINO! is the second art
exhibition to be held in conjunction with the annual Latino film festival.
The exhibition aims to promote artwork that focus on Latinos and/or
about the Latino experience. Also, MACSD hopes to exhibit innovative
artwork that demonstrates the ongoing evolution of digital artwork. SDLFF 2005 Exhibition Each selected Arte Latino artist will be assigned to one gallery and display ten pieces of work at that art space. In addition, each artist will have work displayed at the SDLFF screening location (Mann Theatres in Hazard Center), the SDLFF 2005 official festival program and SDLFF 2005 web page. Last year there was over 17,000 attendees, which included international filmmakers, actors, programmer, distributors, industry representatives, journalists and actively engaged film lovers from San Diego, Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles County. Selection Committee David Avalos (Artist/Instructor), Robert Sanchez (Artist/Instructor) and Lupita Shahbazi (Artist/Instructor). Judging Selection Committee will select five artists. The exhibition will be selected through slides and jpeg images, thus the quality of the images will be critical. The selection committee, however, reserves the right to omit work upon receipt if it is inconsistent in quality with the projected image, is poorly framed, or has otherwise been misrepresented. |
