SDLFF 2005 is proud to announce the following workshops and seminars
for local and emerging independent filmmakers interested in gaining
first-hand experience in the art of film and video production
from top
professionals.
All seminars will take place at Mann Theatres Hazard Center, Screen

Saturday, March 12th
10 am - 12:30 pm
How do feature film directors take an idea and develop
it into an on-screen reality? Come hear top
independent feature film directors talk about their
real-world experiences in pre-production, production,
post-production and distribution of their recently
completed films. Guest speakers: Elia Schneider (Punto
y Raya), Beto Gómez (Puños Rosas), Juan Carlos
Carrasco (Santos Peregrinos), & Esteban Ramirez
(Caribe).

in Hollywood!"
Sunday, March 13th
10 am - 12:30 pm
What does it take to land memorable roles in film and
television? Find out from acclaimed and prolific
character actor, Danny Trejo as he talks about what it
means to act in Hollywood today by sharing his own
personal journey. You‚ll get the straight story from
someone who has appeared in close to 90 films (Spy
Kids,Once Upon a Time in Mexico) and 17 television
programs (NYPD Blue, X files, Alias, Monk). Guest
speaker: Danny Trejo
Co-presented by the San Diego Chapter of the Screen
Actors Guild.

Race is the Place - A Documentary Case Study.
Independent producer Ray Telles talks about how to access all
funding sources
to produce feature documentaries and series for public broadcasting.
Learn about the process behind project submission, the
development, shaping editorial content and meeting
technical specifications. Race is the Place will have
a national broadcast on PBS later in 2005. Guest
speaker: Ray Telles, independent producer/director,
Paradigm Productions, Berkeley, Calif. Moderator:
Luis Ortiz, Latino Public Broadcasting. Co-presented

"From Script to Screen! Developing Your Story Into a Feature
Film"

Innocent Voices / Voces Inocentes - A Feature Film
Case Study. Screenwriter Oscar Torres and acclaimed
director Luis Mandoki (Angel Eyes) discuss the process
of developing one's story idea into a full length
feature film. Innocent Voices was chosen by Mexico to
be its' Official Selection for the 2005 Oscars. Guest
speaker: Oscar Torres, screenwriter and Luis Mandoki,
director. Moderator: Irene A. Márquez, founder of Los
Bilingual Writers.
Co-presented by Los Bilingual Writers & the San Diego
Screenwriters Association.
