Top Ten To Watch 2005


The 2005 San Diego Latino Film Festival continues to
celebrate the brightest and most promising new talents
on our festival screens. In that spirit, we have
identified a number of future stars to share the
recognition of being chosen as the McDonald's SDLFF Top Ten to
Watch for 2005. Don't miss this great opportunity to
meet many of them at this year's festival.

This year's brightest stars include:

Rafael Amaya
Since bursting onto the screen in 2000, Rafael Amaya
has starred in six major telenovelas. Raised in
Tecate, Amaya was a member of the popular musical
group Garibaldi and starred as Jose Julian, the hunky
son of the main character in the smash telenovela
Salomé. In person: Sunday, March 20th, 7:00 pm screening of Desnudos.

Angie Cepeda

SDLFF fans in 2000 were mesmerized by Angie Cepeda's
portrayal of la Colombiana in the hit black comedy
Pantaleon y los visitadores. Since then, the sexy
Colombian actress has brightened the screen in
numerous films, including this year's romantic comedy
Love for Rent. In person: Wednesday, March 16th, 8:00 pm screening of
Love for Rent.

Eva Mendes
Sultry Cuban-American screen siren Eva Mendes has
starred in a number of box office hits, including
Training Day, All About the Benjamins, 2 Fast 2
Furious, Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Hitch.

Michael Peña
Versatile actor Michael Peña has starred in such
diverse films as Million Dollar Baby, Star Maps,
Crash, Little Athens, Buffalo Soldiers, The United
States of Leland and the television Series 'Felicity.'

Adal Ramones
Anyone who has watched Adal Ramones‚ perform those
zany monologues on his popular Mexican show 'Otro
rollo: con Adal Ramones' knows that he has a gift for
entertaining. This year, Ramones appears in Santos
Peregrinos and Puños Rosas, two films featured in this
year's festival. In person: Thursday, March 10th, 7:00 pm
screening of Puñus Rosas.

Michelle Rodriguez
Born in Texas and raised in Puerto Rico, the Dominican
Republic and New Jersey, actress Michelle Rodriguez is
one tough cookie. After several parts as an extra, she
landed starring roles in Girlfight and The Fast and
the Furious. Since then, she has starred in such films
as Resident Evil, Blue Crush and S.W.A.T.

Leonor Varela
International film star Leonor Varela first gained
attention portraying the legendary Queen of Egypt in
the television miniseries 'Cleopatra.' Since then, she
has starred in Blade II and plays a recurring role on
the TV series 'Arrested Development.' Be sure to see
her this year in the moving film Voces inocentes.

Randy Vasquez
Since making his television debut in 'Knots Landing,'
handsome Escondido native Randy Vasquez has appeared
in numerous films and television series, including
Beverly Hills Cop, „First Monday‰ and „J.AG.‰ He
directed the award-winning documentary Testimony: The
Maria Guardado Story and stars in Puños rosas. In person: Thursday,
March 10th, 7:00 pm screening of Puños Rosas.

Jose Yenque
Talented actor Jose Yenque has appeared in numerous
projects, including the television series‚ 'NYPD
Blue,' 'The Division' and 'Justice League' and the
feature films Traffic, Price of Glory, The Blue Diner
and this year's sensational Mexican film Puños rosas. In person:
Thursday, March 10th, 7:00 pm screening of Puños Rosas.

Maya Zapata
Over the past fifteen years, gifted actress Maya
Zapata has appeared in a string of celebrated films
inclduding, Old Gringo, Santitos, La Ley de Herodes,
De la calle and Zapata. This year SDLFF audiences can
see her in three films, including the comedy Santos
peregrinos, the drama El mago and the thriller
